The Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art, large-scale performing arts complex located along the western section of Beijing’s historic South Central Axis in Xicheng District. Officially opened on November 20, 2015, it spans a total floor area of 75,000 square meters and features four core performance venues:

· A 1,600-seat large-scale musical hall
· A 1,000-seat mid-sized hall
· A 400-seat small hall
· A 300-seat multi-functional hall

Positioned as “musical-theatre-centric,” the center also hosts a wide range of performances including drama, dance, concerts, and more.

Acoustic Specifications

The main musical theatre is acoustically tuned with a mid-frequency (500 Hz) reverberation time of 1.2 seconds—an optimal balance between musical warmth and speech intelligibility, making it especially well-suited for musical theatre, where both singing and spoken dialogue are critical.
Innovative Technology
The venue made history in China by being the first to implement an electronic variable acoustics system—the VIVACE system. This advanced technology allows the acoustic environment to be dynamically adjusted beyond the base 1.2-second setting, simulating ideal conditions for symphonic concerts, dramatic plays, or other performance genres. This breakthrough enables true “multi-use functionality within a single hall,” setting a new benchmark for flexible theatre design in China.
